Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Braid Take Down.

Appointment time varies by braid size, length, and extensions. Typical take downs range from 45 to 90 minutes; adding shampoo or conditioning will add 20–45 minutes depending on treatments chosen.

When performed by experienced stylists, take down is gentle and designed to minimize damage. We use careful techniques, detangling, and finger-combing to protect strands and your scalp during removal.

We recommend adding shampoo and deep conditioning if you have product buildup, tension, or dry hair. These services restore moisture and make detangling easier, improving results for the next style.

You can usually have a new protective style the same day if your hair and scalp are healthy. If irritation or significant damage is present, we may advise restorative treatments first.

Arrive with braids or twists as worn; avoid cutting hair beforehand. Bring any oils or scalp treatments you use and allow extra time if you have long or densely packed braids.

We remove both natural braids and extensions safely. Extended time or a small additional fee may apply for synthetic or sewn-in extensions; our stylists will assess during the appointment.
