Most styles last four to eight weeks depending on technique, hair growth, and upkeep. Smaller microbraids and tightly installed styles may last longer, while looser twists or crochet can vary. Proper maintenance, moisturizing and nightly protection prolongs wear and reduces frizz.
When installed and removed properly, protective styles protect natural hair. Damage comes from excessive tension, incorrect sizing, or leaving styles too long. Our stylists use gentle parting, appropriate tension, and removal guidance to minimize stress and maintain healthy hair.
Wash and deep-condition hair 24–48 hours before your appointment, detangle thoroughly and arrive with dry hair unless instructed otherwise. Avoid heavy oils or product buildup so the braider can create clean parts and secure, long-lasting styles.
Timing varies by style and size: simple cornrows or lemonades may take one to three hours, medium box braids or passion twists often require four to eight hours, and microbraids or multi-layer tribals can take longer. We provide estimates during booking.
Wash gently with diluted shampoo or co-wash focusing on the scalp, rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Air-dry or use low heat, moisturize roots and lengths, and sleep with a silk scarf or bonnet to reduce frizz and extend the life of the style.
